N+1

Northeast US winters are brutal. Cyclists do one of three things to cope: 1. Take up cross training, 2. Switch to cyclocross, or 3. Call it a season, watch YouTube recaps of pro races, and scour ether for new gear or the next bike. This last one is the N+1 rule, where N is the current number of bikes in the stable.

I am in this third bucket, coveting a Canyon frameset and torn between the Aeroad CF SLX disc or the Ultimate CF SLX disc. I am about ready to try out an electronic drivetrain and disc brakes. Being in Taiwan, there is very little winter to speak of relative to Northeast US, so I am forced into the option 3, above. Well, this, and a pesky little case of patella tendonitis.

I am scouring ether for reviews, pictures on Pinterest and visits to the Canyon website. I will report back on the decision process.
